Annual Meetings of the Faculties

Earth Sciences and Geography

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 21 November 2017, in the Seminar Room, Department of Geography, Downing Place. The business will be the election, in accordance with the General Regulations for the Constitutions of the Faculty Boards (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 603), of three members of the Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2018.

Nominations for the election and notice of any other business should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board (email: as820@cam.ac.uk) not later than 16 November 2017.

Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Tripos, Part II, 2017–18

The Faculty Board of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies gives notice of the following additional option to be offered under Regulation 8 for Part II of the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Tripos in 2017–18. The paper described is offered in addition to those announced on 28 June 2017 (Reporter, 6471, 2016–17, p. 691). The Faculty reserves the right to withdraw any course that is undersubscribed. Unless otherwise specified, all papers consist of a three-hour examination.

Part II

Chinese

C.13 Literary Chinese 3

This paper contains three sections, all of which must be attempted. Section 1 contains one or more passages from seen texts in literary Chinese for translation into English. Candidates may be asked to comment on the texts in question. Section 2 contains unseen texts for translation into English. Section 3 is a comprehensive reading exercise. Candidates are asked to answer questions, in English, on one or more unseen texts. Candidates will be allowed to use copies of Chinese-Chinese dictionaries provided.

The Faculty Board of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies is satisfied that no student’s preparation for the examination in 2018 will be adversely affected.

Natural Sciences Tripos, Part II (Biological and Biomedical Sciences), 2017–18

Further to the Notice originally published on 8 February 2017 (Reporter, 6454, 2016–17, p. 355) and amended on 20 April 2017 (Reporter, 6461, 2016–17, p. 451), 7 June 2017 (Reporter, 6468, 2016–17, p. 581), and 27 September 2017 (Reporter, 6477, 2017–18, p. 8), the Faculty Board of Biology gives notice that the examination requirements for the Minor subject 104 have been further amended and are now as follows:

Human evolution and palaeolithic archaeology (HSPS Paper BAN3) (maximum 20 candidates)

One written paper of three hours’ duration, worth 85% of the overall mark, and one practical examination worth 15% of the overall mark.
