1. Report of the Council, dated 22 May 2017, on the provisions concerning the initiation of Graces and of amendments to submitted Graces by members of the Regent House (Reporter, 6466, 2016–17, p. 542).

Sir Robert Rede’s Lecture: Monday, 12 June 2017

The Vice-Chancellor reminds members of the University that a Rede Lecture will be given in the Senate-House by Dr Sue Desmond-Hellmann, Chief Executive Officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, at 5.30 p.m. on Monday, 12 June 2017. Dr Desmond-Hellmann will lecture on Facts or fear? The case for facts.

Election to the Council

26 May 2017

The Vice-Chancellor announces that the following candidate has been nominated in accordance with Statute A IV 2 for election to the Council in class (a) (Heads of Colleges), and that it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be nominated:

No other persons having been nominated, Dr Freeling is duly elected in class (a), to serve from 19 July 2017 until 31 December 2020.

Election to the Board of Scrutiny

The Vice-Chancellor announces that the following candidate has been nominated for election to the Board of Scrutiny in class (c)(ii) (members of the Regent House), in accordance with Statute A VII 3, and it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be nominated:

No other persons having been nominated, Mr Goode is duly elected in class (c)(ii), to serve for four years from 1 October 2017. In accordance with Regulation 3 of the regulations for the election of members of the Board of Scrutiny (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 112), the Council shall be asked, in relation to the one vacancy in class (c)(i) and the two vacancies in class (c)(ii), whether it wishes to make appointments to the Board or to ask the Vice-Chancellor to arrange a further election.

Senate-House Yard and the University Combination Room: Closure on 21 June 2017

Both the Yard and the Combination Room will be closed on Wednesday, 21 June 2017, on the occasion of the Honorary Degree Congregation. Access to the University Offices will be from Trinity Lane. Only those with admission tickets for the Congregation and other authorized persons will be allowed to enter the Yard during the closure.
