Graces

Grace submitted to the Regent House on 9 November 2016

The Council submits the following Grace to the Regent House. This Grace, unless it is withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 103), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 18 November 2016.

1. That a Hatton Philosophy of Public Health Fund be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulations:1

Hatton Philosophy of Public Health Fund

1. The sums received by the University from the Hatton Trust to support teaching and research in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, along with other donations received for the same purpose, shall form a fund called the Hatton Philosophy of Public Health Fund.

2. The first charge on the income of the Fund shall be the stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect costs payable by the University in respect of a Lectureship in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science to be known as the Hatton Lectureship in the Philosophy of Public Health.

3. The Fund shall be administered by the Managers of the Hatton Philosophy of Life Sciences Fund.

4. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 2, the income of the Fund may be applied for the support of teaching or research in the philosophy of public health as shall be approved by the General Board on the recommendation of the Managers.

5. Any unexpended income in a financial year shall either be added to the capital of the Fund or accumulated for use as income in any one or more subsequent years, as the Managers may determine.
