Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 5 October 2016

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 103), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 14 October 2016.

1. That (i) the stipends for all non-clinical University staff whose stipends are steps on the Cambridge general stipend and salary scale be increased as set out in the Schedule to the Council’s Notice on University salaries and stipends (p. 24), and (ii) the stipends for non-clinical officers whose stipends are not steps on the general scale, except the stipend of the Deputy High Steward, be increased by 1.1% with effect from 1 August 2016, until further notice.

2. That Regulation 7 of the regulations for Allowances to Candidates for Examinations (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 230) be amended so as to read:1

7. Where the regulations for an examination provide for a candidate to submit by a specified date a dissertation, thesis, essay, or other coursework in addition to the written papers or in substitution for one or more of them, the Council may, with the concurrence of the Chair of Examiners or the Senior Examiner, grant a brief extension to a specified date by which the work shall be submitted. A dissertation, thesis, essay, or other coursework submitted later than the date specified by the Council, or in the regulation concerned if no extension has been granted, shall not be accepted.

Footnotes

  • 1The Council, on the recommendation of its Standing Committee for Applications, proposes these changes (i) to encourage applications for an extension to a deadline to be directed to the Council, via its Standing Committee for Applications (rather than to the Examiners), and (ii) to extend the regulation so that it covers all examinations falling within the Standing Committee’s remit.
