Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 10 February 2016

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 19 February 2016.

1. That the recommendations in paragraph 8 of the Report of the Council, dated 12 January 2016, on the reconfiguration and refurbishment of the Clinical School Building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (Reporter, 6410, 2015–16, p. 316) be approved.

2. That the recommendation in paragraph 3 of the Report of the General Board, dated 13 January 2016, on the re-establishment of a RAND Professorship of Health Services Research (Reporter, 6411, 2015–16, p. 327) be approved.

3. That the Readership in Theoretical Econometrics (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 723) be retitled the Readership in Econometrics.1

4. That Regulation 9 for the Bell, Abbott, and Barnes Funds (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 747) be amended so as to read:2

9. Any part of the income of any of the Funds that is not expended in any year in accordance with the foregoing regulations shall be available for distribution on the recommendation of the Awarders to any of those Colleges in receipt of grants from the Colleges Fund in the previous academical year, in shares determined by the Awarders taking account of the size of each grant from the Colleges Fund and the number of resident undergraduate student members of each College, for the purpose of defraying the cost of awards made to members of those institutions who are candidates for the B.A. Degree and who are in need of financial assistance upon such conditions as their respective governing bodies shall from time to time determine.

Footnotes

  • 1The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Economics, propose the retitling of the Readership to attract a wider field of applicants.

  • 2These changes, made on the recommendation of the Awarders of the Funds, enable distribution of unexpended income to Colleges in receipt of grants from the Colleges Fund, as a means of identifying those Colleges least likely to have funds available to support those of their students who are in need of financial assistance.
