Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 14 January 2015

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 111), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 23 January 2015.

1. That Professor Dame Carol Black, N, be appointed one of the Septemviri from 1 January 2015 until 31 December 2016.

2. That Professor Geoffrey Ward, HO, be appointed one of the Septemviri from 1 January 2015 until 31 December 2015.

3. That, notwithstanding Regulation 2 for the Election of Members of the Board of Scrutiny (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 121), an election to fill a vacant place for a member in class (c)(i) shall be held in accordance with the Council’s Notice dated 12 January 2015 (p. 319).

4. That Regulation 3 for the Ver Heyden de Lancey Fund (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 982) be amended so as to read:1

3. The income of the Fund may be used, at the discretion of the Managers, to promote medico-legal studies in the University by providing lectures on medico-legal subjects (to be known as Baron de Lancey Lectures), or to purchase books and journals for the University on such subjects, or, as to part only, for other purposes connected with the study of medical law or medical ethics.

  • 1The General Board, at the request of the Faculty Board of Law, propose the amendment to enable unused income to be applied to the study of medical law or medical ethics. The de Lancey and de la Hanty Foundation has been notified and has raised no objection.
