Regulations for Examinations

Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos, Part Ib

With immediate effect

French

The list of papers available in Part Ib within the Schedule has been corrected so as to add Paper Fr. 11 (Literature, visual culture, thought, and history in the French-speaking world, since 1945), and to remove Paper Fr. 13 (The French language: variation and change).

The list of papers available accordingly reads:

French: Fr. 3†, 4†, 5†, 6†, 7†, 8†, 9†, 10†, 11†, 12†.

All may be replaced by a portfolio of essays.

Paper 4 is currently suspended.

Examination in Advanced Computer Science for the degree of Master of Philosophy

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 500)

Regulation 2.

By replacing the second sentence so as to read:

In publishing the list of modules and additional modules, the Degree Committee shall announce the form of examination for each module, which shall be either a written paper, or course-work, or equivalent alternative exercises approved by the Degree Committee, or a combination of these.

Examination in Management Research for the degree of Master of Philosophy

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 520)

The General Board and the Board of Graduate Studies have approved a recommendation from the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Business and Management that the examination in Management Research for the M.Phil. Degree be suppressed, and the special regulations for the examination be rescinded with immediate effect.

Certificate in Theology for Ministry

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 569)

With immediate effect

The regulations have been amended so as to reduce the minimum number of credits from papers chosen from the Bachelor of Theology Degree under Regulation 3(a) from six to four; to disengage the dissertation from Regulation 3(b) by removing Regulation 3(b)(i), and rewriting the regulation in order that candidates may offer all of the pastoral and denominational options currently listed under Regulation 3(b)(ii); and so as to insert a new Regulation 3(c) under which candidates may offer a dissertation.

Regulation 3.

By amending the first part of Regulation 3(a) so as to read:

(a)a minimum of four credits from papers chosen from those offered for the Bachelor of Theology Degree.

By removing Regulation 3(b)(i), absorbing Regulation 3(b)(ii) into the body of Regulation 3(b) and redrafting the regulation so as to read:

(b)no more than six credits from a pastoral or denominational submission chosen from

A.a Social Context Placement with reflective report, which shall count as two credits;

B.a Church Placement with reflective report, which shall count as two credits;

C.a Church Attachment with Supervisor’s report, which shall count as one credit;

D.an essay of no more than 3,000 words on a topic approved by the Faculty Board, which shall count as one credit.

By inserting a new Regulation 3(c) so as to read:

(c)with the permission of the Faculty Board a dissertation on any topic, approved by the Faculty Board, relating to the subject of any full or half-paper from Papers 9 to 28, as specified under Regulation 24 for the Bachelor of Theology Degree, which shall count as two credits.

The Faculty Board of Divinity, and the Committee for the Management of the Bachelor of Theology Degree, have confirmed that no candidate’s preparation for the examination in 2011 will be affected by these changes.

Postgraduate Diploma in Notarial Practice

The General Board have approved a recommendation from the Strategic Committee for the Institute of Continuing Education that the Postgraduate Diploma in Notarial Practice be suspended, with effect from 1 September 2013, until further notice.
