Oxford Notices

Notice by the Editor of the Oxford University Gazette

CHANGE TO PUBLICATION OF APPOINTMENTS NOTICES

With effect from the issue of 30 September 2010, appointments notices – in the sense of job vacancy notices – will be removed from the Oxford University Gazette. In their place, the Gazette will publish a list of brief announcements of vacancies notified. This arrangement will apply to all vacancies – those from Oxford Colleges and Departments as well as those from Cambridge. The announcement will give (i) the source and name of the post, (ii) its salary range, (iii) the closing date for applications, and (iv) contact details for further information – probably, usually, a website or an email address. Examples of the kind of entry that will be published follow:

University of Cambridge: Professorship of Photonic Systems and Displays; 15 September;
http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/academic/secretary/professorships/

Newnham College, Cambridge: Admissions Tutor; £27,183; 19 March; http://www.newn.cam.ac.uk/

Oxford vacancies will be listed in the Reporter in the same way, so preserving the long-standing reciprocal arrangement between the Gazette and the Reporter.

Notices should be sent to the Gazette in the form shown above. Please do not (a) give information beyond that specified; (b) give more than one contact address (a Web address is preferable); or (c) send a full notice from which the required information would need to be extracted.

Enquiries may be directed to gazette@admin.ox.ac.uk.
