Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Cardiology in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine

Applications are invited for a Clinical Lecturer (Honorary Specialist Registrar) post to be held in the Clinical School's Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (http://www.med.cam.ac.uk/html/div/cardio.html) under the Integrated Academic Training Initiative. The post is approved for training in Cardiology by both the Deanery and PMETB, and carries an East of England NTN in Cardiology. Applicants should have had suitable experience and training and be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialist Registrar in Cardiology. The post is ideally suitable for a Specialist Registrar holding a Cardiology NTN who has completed at least three years of her or his Cardiology training and a research-based higher degree (M.D. or Ph.D.).

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual wishing to pursue a career in Academic Cardiovascular Medicine. The post is based at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke's Hospital), with training available in a wide range of cardiological subspecialties (and GIM if required) at both Addenbrooke's and Papworth Hospitals. There are outstanding clinical and basic science research facilities and expertise across both hospitals, and there will be dedicated research time to develop a research programme within a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The Lecturer will also contribute to undergraduate teaching. The appointment will be for up to four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The salary scale will be £30,231 to £52,346 a year.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Martin Bennett (tel./fax 01223 331504, email mrb@mole.bio.cam.ac.uk).

For an application pack, contact Ms L. Foster (email LMDF2@medschl.cam.ac.uk). The closing date for applications (twelve copies), together with a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, and the names of three referees, is Monday, 1 June 2009.
