University Lecturer in Physical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry wishes to appoint a University Lecturer in quantitative experimental chemical science, to take up appointment as soon as possible. Candidates should have a strong research background in physical chemistry or chemical physics and be capable of forging strong links to other cognate scientific disciplines. Applications would be particularly welcome from candidates with research experience in cutting edge applications of any form of spectroscopy. The successful candidate must also be able to teach physical chemistry at undergraduate level.

Appointment to a Lectureship will be for an initial probationary period of five years, with reappointment to the retiring age subject to satisfactory performance. The salary will be in the range of £36,532 to £46,278 a year.

The post is available from October 2009. Secretary of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences (Principal Assistant Registrary in the Academic Division)

As a senior member of the management team of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the post-holder will lead the administration of the School in the provision of services for staff and students. Points Based Immigration Officer (Assistant Registrary) in the Academic Division

This is a new role established in response to new UK legislation. Given the number of overseas students who are registered at the University, it is imperative that the post-holder rapidly develops new procedures which must function effectively from the outset. It is likely that the new processes will require modification once the Points Based Immigration System commences and the post-holder must be able to identify issues and implement rapid solutions.
