University Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Studies

The Department of Politics and International Studies invites applications for the post of Lecturer. The successful candidate will have a proven research record both in the history of thought about empire and international politics, and in contemporary international relations theory. A completed Ph.D. Degree and publications at levels of international excellence are required, together with teaching experience. The appointed person will be required to teach at postgraduate level, including the supervision of Ph.Ds, and at undergraduate level, according to the evolving needs of the new Department.

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £36,532 to £46,278 a year.

Clinical Lecturer (Specialist Registrar) in Clinical Genetics in the Department of Medical Genetics (two posts)

Applications are invited for these posts in the Department of Medical Genetics. The School of Clinical Medicine is looking for applicants from any medical background to join this dynamic and successful Department. The posts offer trainees with academic potential the chance to start their research careers in an excellent research environment. This 5* rated Department has an international profile in all areas of genetic research including single gene disorders, complex diseases, genomics, functional studies, and translational medicine. Key themes include neurosciences, learning disability, and autoimmunity. The Department has a strong track record in securing intermediate and senior research Fellowships for its academic trainees.

Alternating one-year blocks will be spent in research and in clinical practice. The successful candidates will have honorary NHS contracts as Specialist Registrars and be expected to gain their CCT in Clinical Genetics in post. Applicants should have MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification, and a Ph.D. Degree or M.D. Experience relevant to the applicant's research and/or some experience of clinical genetics would be advantageous. The appointments will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The salary will be on the scale £30,231 to £52,346 a year.
