University Lecturer in Social Psychology in the Department of Social and Developmental Psychology

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for appointment to a Lectureship in Social Psychology from 1 September 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter. The Department wishes to appoint a research-active social psychologist with expertise in any area of social psychology who can teach central aspects of social psychology, research methods/data analysis, and her/his areas of expertise at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Familiarity with cognitive psychology and/or psychobiology would also be advantageous. The salary will be in the range of £36,532 to £46,278 a year.

Faculty Administrator (Assistant Registrary) in the Academic Division (assigned to the Faculty of Law)

As a core member of the senior management team in a large and busy Faculty, the post-holder will be involved in determining and implementing policies concerned with effective resource management, and in overseeing the administrative support within the Faculty. The salary will be in the range of £36,532 to £46,278 a year.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, the post-holder will have significant relevant experience in a senior administrative post within the University, including proven ability in managing resources and staff.

Computer Officer in the Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is seeking an experienced Computer Officer to take up appointment at the earliest opportunity. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated team responsible for all aspects of the Department's computing needs. Key responsibilities include taking a technical lead for some projects that currently include: virtualizing the server environment with detached storage; granting the ability to provision services more rapidly; delivering greater resilience across the IT environment; and investigating the potential deployment of an Electronic Laboratory Notebook. General duties cover the day-to-day co-ordination of IT support activities for 600 users, including the installation and maintenance of office hardware and software (Windows and Macintosh), managing many of the Department's infrastructure services (generally running on Linux), and offering technical and project consultancy.

Applicants should be educated to at least degree level in a numerate subject (or equivalent qualification), with a proven ability in managing computer infrastructure including desktops (Windows, OSX, and Linux), networks (IP management, Apache and associated web management services, and Firewall management), and servers (Windows and Linux). In addition, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a good blend of technical, influencing skills, and interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues who have a wide range of technical abilities. The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical leadership and take accountability for the delivery of projects, and will also be expected to play a full role as part of a successful team maintaining and building new services for the Chemistry Department.

Administrative Officer in the Academic Division (Planning and Resource Allocation)

The Planning and Resource Allocation Office is at the centre of the University's arrangements for funding and planning and provides a range of analytical and data services. The post-holder will be the senior in a team of three across this range, and will contribute to the further development of the annual planning cycle, to the Resource Allocation and other models, to forecasting, and to the analysis and provision of management information. The salary will be in the range of £32,458 to £43,622.

The post-holder will need excellent analytical, interpretative, and presentational skills, an aptitude for funding and planning issues, a very high standard of numeracy and literacy, and an eye for detail. Applicants should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in an administrative post, preferably in a higher education establishment.
