Evelyn Trust Lectureship in Engineering for Clinical Practice in the Department of Engineering

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for this newly established Lectureship in Engineering for Clinical Practice.

The successful candidate will develop a record of world-class research, commensurate with the Department's international reputation and top-rank research rating, in a field of engineering that integrates appropriately with existing work in the Department of Engineering and is relevant to clinical medicine. A key role of the post is to foster the exploitation of engineering research in clinical medicine by building collaborative links with the School of Clinical Medicine and Cambridge University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Candidates should have experience of applying their work in a clinical environment and working with clinicians. In addition, experience or an appreciation of the process of commercial exploitation of engineering innovations that have been designed to meet medical needs and the process of fostering collaborations between researchers in engineering and clinical medicine, would be an advantage.

The salary will be in the range of £34,793 to £44,074 a year. The successful candidate will take up the appointment on 1 October 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be for a probationary period of five years and, subject to satisfactory performance, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter.

Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine

Applications are invited for a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, assigned to Clinical Pharmacology, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The person appointed will be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialist Registrar and will be required to undertake clinical work, teaching, and research. Teaching will include acting as a Clinical Supervisor to a group of students. The appointment will be for four years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a Clinical Lecturer is £29,580 a year, rising by ten annual increments to £51,219.

Administrative Officers (Equality and Diversity Consultants) in the Human Resources Division (two posts)

Cambridge University now seeks to supplement its Equality and Diversity function with the appointment of two additional Equality and Diversity Consultants to further develop Equality and Diversity best practice in this world-leading institution.

Reporting to the Head of Equality and Diversity and working hand in hand with external stakeholders, the post-holders will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of the Equality and Diversity strategy for over 8,500 staff and around 17,500 students across the University, and promoting Diversity events throughout the year.

These are key roles in an institution serious about Equality and Diversity. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record within Equality and Diversity. Experience of working in the higher education or public sector would be an advantage. Excellent communication and relationship management skills are a pre-requisite.

The salary will be in the range of £30,912 to £41,545 a year. An excellent package is on offer to the successful candidates.

Administrative Officer in the Academic Division

The post-holder will support the Head of the International Office in the effective development and operation of the office in general and in oversight of relevant developments in the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent in particular. Duties will include preparing briefings for senior officers; supporting the Pro-Vice-Chancellor in the development and implementation of the University's strategic priorities for these regions; facilitating the establishment of partnership agreements; and providing administrative support for the relevant area working groups. The post-holder will also deputize for the Head of Office as required. The salary will be in the range of £30,912 to £41,545 a year.

Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent and have substantial relevant experience in an administrative post. Fluency in Arabic or Russian, and experience of working in the Middle East, Central Asia, or the Indian subcontinent, are desirable.

Teaching Associate in Insular Latin Language and Literature in the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic

Applications are invited for a temporary teaching associate in the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic, with effect from 1 October 2008. This post will provide cover for Dr Rosalind Love, while she undertakes work for a Leverhulme Trust funded research project. The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching, examining, and supervising in the Department as appropriate. The salary will be in the range of £25,888 to £33,780 a year.
