Exeter College

STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

The College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy. The position will be tenable from 1 October 2003 until 30 September 2004, and the salary will be at points 1 or 2 on the Senior Tutors' Committee's agreed Stipendiary Lecturer scale (£17,246 to £18,265 a year at 2002-03 rates). The Lecturer will be required to undertake tutorial or class teaching of undergraduates up to a maximum of twelve hours a week averaged over the three terms of the academical year, to set and mark College examinations, and to participate in the admissions process.

The College has a preference for applications from those able to teach some or all of Descartes; Mill; Elementary Logic for Preliminary Examinations; Ethics; Knowledge and Reality; and History of Philosophy for the Final Honour Schools, but applications are welcome from people able to teach other central parts of the Oxford syllabi.

Applications, including a curriculum vitae, and the names of two referees, should be received by the Academic Administrator not later than 30 June 2003. The College expects to shortlist in the following week and to hold interviews in the week of 14 July. Referees should be asked to write without request from the College, their letters to be received by the Academic Administrator not later than the closing date.
