Brasenose College

GOLDING FELLOWSHIPS

Brasenose College invites applications for one Senior and one Junior William Golding Fellowship in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The Fellowships are open to suitably qualified postdoctoral researchers who are carrying out research in any branch of the Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences in Oxford, either in the University or in a research institute associated with the University.

KURTI FELLOWSHIPS

Brasenose College invites applications for one Senior and one Junior Nicholas Kurti Fellowship in Science. The Fellowships are open to suitably qualified postdoctoral researchers who are carrying out research in any branch of science in Oxford, either in the University or in a research institute associated with the University.

The aforementioned Fellowships are non-stipendiary, but include membership of the Senior Common Room with free lunches and dinners. Fellows are required to have a salaried post with a tenure of at least twelve months from the date of taking up the Fellowship. The Senior Fellowship will run from 1 October 2003 for five years in the first instance but may be renewed at intervals thereafter provided the Fellow continues to hold a salaried post. The Junior Fellowships will start on 1 October 2003 and, provided the Fellow continues to hold a salaried post, will last for three years. Fellows will be permitted, but not required, to undertake paid teaching of up to six hours a week. Neither Fellowship may be held in conjunction with a Fellowship at another Oxford College. Applications, including the names and addresses of three referees, should be addressed to the Principal, Brasenose College, Oxford, OX1 4AJ (from whom further particulars are available), and should be accompanied by a full curriculum vitae, together with an outline, not exceeding 1,000 words, explaining in non-technical language the significance of the applicant's research.

JOHN HICKS FOUNDATION GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DOCTORAL STUDY IN ECONOMICS

Brasenose College is offering one or two Scholarships for doctoral research in Economics for October 2003. Preferred areas of specialization are money and banking or macroeconomics. Scholarships are for one year plus a maximum of a further two years, valued at £5,061 a year plus some dining rights and guaranteed accommodation in the graduate annexe at St Cross for the first year of the course (at the normal charge). These Scholarships are intended to be top-up maintenance grants for graduates who have been accepted by the Department of Economics to read for a D.Phil. (or eligible to do so) and who have full or 'fees only' ESRC (or similar) funding. Research students already in their first or second year of their doctoral study at Oxford are also eligible to apply.
