Examination in Development Studies for the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course), 2002: Amendments

The Development Studies Committee give notice that the following subject for examination has been added to the list of Group 2 (optional) subjects for the examination in Development Studies for the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course) in 2002, published on 20 June 2001 (Reporter 2000-01, p. 862):

Subject 23, Public policy making and evaluation (Subject 12 from the examination in Land Economy)

In the examination to be held in 2002 this subject will be examined by means of a three-hour written examination.

The Committee also give notice that the following subjects for examination have been renamed:

Subject 18, Social anthropology and development (Paper 3a from the Examination in Social Anthropological Analysis) has been renamed Development anthropology. The form of examination for Subject 18 is unchanged.

Subject 25, The sociology and politics of population, has been renamed Population, politics, and culture.

In the examination to be held in 2002 Subject 25 will be examined by means of either two 5,000-word essays or a three-hour written examination.

The Committee are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination is adversely affected by these changes.
