St Edmund's College

CONFERENCE

The Von Hügel Institute, St Edmund's College, is holding a three-day conference on 5-7 June in Cambridge, on the topic of Professor Amartya Sen's Capability Approach with emphasis on issues of justice and poverty. The conference is co-hosted by St Edmund's College, New Hall, and Lucy Cavendish College. The aim of this conference is to stimulate further understanding of Sen's Capability Approach. Papers and discussion sessions will examine technical issues in operationalizing the Capability Approach and will address issues of gender, health, education, and environment from the perspective of poverty and justice. Invited contributors include Professor Amartya Sen, Dr Sabina Alkire, of the World Bank, and Dr Mozaffar Qizilbash, of the University of East Anglia.

The conference fee of £120 (£45 for students) includes meals (except the conference dinner), refreshments served at breaks during the three days of the conference, a conference pack, and access to papers.
