Fitzwilliam College

FELLOWSHIP AND COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH

Fitzwilliam College invites applications for a College Lecturer in English. The successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduates for the Cambridge English Tripos, and to serve as Director of Studies in English, with effect from 1 October 2001. Although applications are welcome from candidates working in any field of English Literature, preference may be given to those in Medieval and/or Renaissance Literature.

The initial tenure of the Lectureship, which is open to men and women, will be for a period of three years, with the possibility of reappointment for two years. Further periods of reappointment will depend on the College's continued need for the post as well as on the individual's performance in it.

The College follows an equal opportunities policy. It will not restrict its consideration to applicants seeking a full-time appointment. Applications for part-time (or job share) appointments will be welcomed.

The pensionable stipend of a College Lecturer will be at a point in the range £17,755 to £23,256, depending on age and experience. The additional stipend associated with the Direction of Studies is currently £1,320. The successful candidate will be elected to a Fellowship of the College, with which further obligations and privileges are associated.

Before applying please consult the further particulars on the College's website (www.fitz.cam.ac.uk/english-lectureship.html), or send a self-addressed envelope to the Master's Secretary, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, CB3 0DG for further particulars. Applications should be sent to the Master no later than Thursday, 14 June 2001.
