On the recommendation of the Faculty Board of History, the General Board have agreed to authorize the Examiners for Part II of the Historical Tripos 2001 to set an additional paper, numbered Paper 19A, under the title 'State and economy in industrial society: Britain and the USA since 1850', on condition that candidature for that paper is restricted to Mr S. Raha, of Trinity College. A paper on that subject was originally set for the 2001 examination, but by Notice of 2 February 2000 (see Reporter, 1999-2000, p. 397) the subject of the paper was changed. Mr Raha, who has been studying for a two-year Part II in History, sat the Preliminary Examination to Part II in the original subject for Paper 19 and was preparing to offer it in the examination this year.
