The following persons have been appointed in the manner prescribed by Ordinance to preach before the University during the academical year 2001-02.
21 October | Professor Frances Young, Edward Cadbury Professor of Theology and Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Birmingham; formerly of Girton College and Clare Hall. |
4 November | Professor David Ford, Regius Professor of Divinity, University of Cambridge, Fellow of Selwyn College; formerly of Trinity College, Dublin, and St John's College (The Lady Margaret's Preacher, Commemoration of Benefactors: scarlet day). |
3 February | Professor Ian Linden, of the Catholic Institute for International Relations. |
3 March | Professor Dr Martin Hengel, Professor-Emeritus of Theology, Eberhard-Karl-University, Tübingen; Honorary Doctor of Divinity of the University (Hulsean Sermon). |
5 May | The Rt Hon. Baroness Perry of Southwark, President, Lucy Cavendish College; formerly of Girton College. |
19 May | Canon Diana Witts, former General Secretary, Church Mission Society; Lay Canon of Salisbury Cathedral (Ramsden Sermon, Whitsunday: scarlet day). |
University Sermons are delivered in Great St Mary's Church at 11.15 a.m. on the Sundays stated.
The Vice-Chancellor will announce later the Preacher at the Commemoration of John Mere, in St Bene't's Church at 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday, 23 April 2002.
The Preacher before the University at King's College will be announced later by the College.
