VACANCIES AND STUDENTSHIPS

Babraham Institute

COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENTIST

This post is available initially for five years and would suit an individual with experience in computational analysis and modelling of sensory system functioning, particularly in the context of electrophysiological data. The individual would also be expected to work closely with electrophysiologists both within the group and in the USA, and to co-ordinate with other UK-based computational neuroscientists involved with the projects. (Ref. JF/P)

MULTI-ARRAY ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIST

This is a BBSRC grant-funded post for three years and would suit an individual with experience in in vivo electrophysiological recording techniques and associated computational analysis. Experience with multi-array recording techniques would be an advantage but is not essential since the technology is already established in the laboratory. The project is to use multi-array extracellular recording techniques with both linear and planar arrays to investigate temporal synchronisation in neural circuits in the frontal and temporal cortices associated with face and object recognition. (Ref. KK/EP/2)

Informal enquiries about the two positions above may be made to Dr Keith Kendrick (tel +44 (0)1223 496385, fax +44 (0)1223 496028, e-mail keith.kendrick@bbsrc.ac.uk). The starting salary for both positions will be in the range £18,200 to £22,000 a year.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCIENTIST

The position is available immediately in the Laboratory of Lymphocyte Signalling and Development, to work on a project investigating the molecular mechanisms of B-lymphocyte activation using novel transgenic and knockout mouse models. The current focus of the project is on the mechanism of positive and negative selection of immature B-lymphocytes. The appointment is for three years in the first instance. The successful candidate will have experience of signal transduction and/or working with transgenics. The starting salary will be in the range £17,800 to £22,000 a year. Informal enquiries may be made to Dr Martin Turner (tel. +44 (0)1223 496460, fax +44 (0)1223 496023, e-mail martin.turner@bbsrc.ac.uk). (Ref. MT/G/ST)

In each case, application forms and further details are available from the Personnel Officer, The Babraham Institute, Cambridge, CB2 4AT (tel. 01223 496000, e-mail babraham.personnel@bbsrc.ac.uk). Please apply by 30 June 2000 quoting the appropriate reference number.

The Institute is supported by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and is an equal opportunities employer.
