UNIVERSITY OFFICES

Applications are invited for the following University office:

University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Experimental Psychology

University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Experimental Psychology, to take up appointment from 1 October 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be made in the general area of psychopathology. An interest in either the biological or cognitive aspects of abnormal psychology would be advantageous.

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for three or five years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment to the retiring age. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £20,811 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £32,095.

Appointments made at University Assistant Lecturer level will be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The statutory limit of tenure of a University Assistant Lectureship is five years, but all holders of the office of University Assistant Lecturer are considered for possible appointment to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Assistant Lecturer is £17,238 a year, rising by six annual increments to £22,579.

Computer Associate, Grade III or Grade IV, in the Clinical School IT Support Service

The Clinical School IT Support Service wishes to appoint a Computer Associate to work within a team providing first line IT support for University Departments based at the Addenbrooke's site. The successful candidate must be capable of supporting a computer laboratory consisting of PC and MAC workstations and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software running under Mac OS and Windows NT workstation is also required. The post-holder will also be expected to take part in the operation of the IT Support Helpdesk and to assist in development work, such as setting up and testing new services. Training will be offered where necessary.

Appointment will be for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment. The salary will either be on the Computer Associate, Grade IV, scale (£16,286 to £18,915) or the Computer Associate, Grade III, scale (£18,915 to £24,479), according to qualifications and experience.

Two posts in the University Offices (Estate Management and Building Service)

Senior Project Manager

Senior Project Manager in the Major Projects Section. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the post-holder will be required to develop and manage the procurement process throughout design and construction. Applicants should be Chartered Architects, Building or Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, or equivalent professionals, and should have had several years' experience managing major construction projects at a senior level. They must be pro-active team players, motivated, and able to motivate others. They must also have experience in computerized project management techniques and the accumulation, collation, and analysis of a wide range of construction data.

The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment. The pensionable scale of stipends is £28,478 a year, rising by three annual increments to £32,095.

Administrator

An Administrator is required to assist the Director of Estate Management and to head the administrative team in the Planning and Property section. The duties will be wide-ranging, including project work, management information, policy advice, and personnel management. Applicants should be educated to degree level with several years' relevant experience. They should be numerate, with IT skills and the ability to analyse and present complex ideas clearly and effectively. Good written and oral communication skills are essential.

The appointment is for three years starting on 1 August 2000, or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary is in the range £22,579 to £27,451 a year.

Development Programme Manager in the University Offices (Management Information Services Division)

The Management Information Services Division of the University Offices (MISD) operates two sites: a Digital VMS environment supporting established in-house developed Oracle applications and a Sun Solaris environment supporting the development of an Oracle Financials application and the development of all new major systems. The post-holder will be responsible for the management, implementation, and planning of applications development and will report to the MISD Systems Manager. Duties will involve management of the applications development staff, ensuring current applications are adequately maintained, and the planning of application development strategies and software upgrades to support user requirements. The post-holder will also have a role in the Divisional Management Team.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have sound applications development experience in a large relational database environment. They will need to show experience of project planning and management, impact analysis, budget control, and staff management. It is essential that candidates will have planned and developed at least one major application using Oracle Development tools. The post will be for three years and the salary, dependent upon experience, will be up to £35,670.
