CONTRACTS MANAGER

This new position has been created to reflect the importance placed by the MRC on the protection and exploitation of its intellectual property. Candidates will be experienced administrators with a first or preferably higher degree in the biological sciences. The post-holder will be required to manage contractual issues concerning grants, research collaborations, etc. on behalf of the MRC units in Cambridge. Active promotion of MRC IP and exploitation policies and assistance with technology transfer will be important aspects of this role. The post will be based within the MRC Cambridge Centre, which provides administrative and technical infrastructure support to the seven MRC research establishments in the Cambridge region, some renowned for pioneering work in molecular biology and for the application of basic research to medicine and the commercial sector.

Candidates should be experienced in vetting and approving agreements, negotiating terms, and explaining policies and procedures. Good communication skills, a friendly and persuasive personality, and a willingness to develop an understanding of the science in key areas are important requirements. This position is up to MRC Band 3 (£25,197 - £36,982 a year), with a likely starting salary of up to £30,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
