Applications are invited for a Term Fellowship in English Language and Literature, tenable for two years only from 1 October 2000. The post provides replacement teaching at both College and Faculty levels during the current post-holder's tenure of a British Academy Research Readership. The successful candidate will have research interests in the literature of the periods, 1100-1642, including Shakespeare. He or she will be required to give twelve hours' tutorials a week for the College and to assist with lecturing and graduate teaching for the Faculty of English. A further ability to teach the literature of either 1642-1740 or the twentieth century would be an advantage. The salary will be on a scale up to point six on the University Lecturer, Grade A, scale (currently £18,185), with one increment payable after twelve months. The Fellow will, in addition, receive a housing allowance.
Further particulars and application forms may be obtained from the Acting College Secretary, University College, Oxford, OX1 4BH (tel. 01865 276677, e-mail jane.vicat@univ.ox.ac.uk). Applications should be made to the Senior Tutor, University College, by 31 March 2000. Applicants should arrange for three referees to write to the Senior Tutor by the same date.
