The regulations for the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 316) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of these amendments is to give the Faculty Board of Engineering power to prescribe the standards that candidates are required to attain in order to be admitted to Part I and Part II of this Tripos. These requirements will apply to students embarking on the first year of the four-year course in 1999-2000. The regulations have been amended as follows:

With effect from 1 October 2001:

Regulation 3.

3. The Faculty Board of Engineering may in special circumstances, which they shall themselves determine, give leave to a student who has obtained honours in any Honours Examination to be a candidate for honours in Part I of the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos in the year after so obtaining honours, provided that he or she has attained a satisfactory standard, as defined by the Faculty Board, in his or her last Honours Examination, and provided also that the student has kept seven terms and that twelve complete terms have not passed after his or her first term of residence.

With effect from 1 October 2002:

Regulation 4.

By amending the regulation so as to read:

4. A student who has obtained honours in Part I of the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos may be a candidate for honours in Part II in the year next after or next but one after so obtaining honours, provided that he or she

Entry to the fourth-year course (Part II of the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos) for all students

Students will normally be expected to have achieved class II.2 or better in either their second-year or their third-year examinations in order to be accepted for Part II of the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos.
