Annual Meetings of Faculties

Archaeology and Anthropology

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 8 November 1999, in the Seminar Room of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Downing Street. All members of the Faculty are invited to attend. Reports on the past year will be presented by the Chairman of the Faculty, the Heads of Departments of Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Social Anthropology, the Director of the McDonald Institute, the Director and Curator of the Museum, the Chairman of the Part I Teaching Committee, and the Haddon Librarian.

Members of the Faculty are invited to discuss the Review of the University's Mission (see Reporter, p. 42).

Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2000 and one member to serve, from 1 January 2000, for the one year of the period of tenure of his predecessor, Dr G. A. Lewis, who has resigned as a member of the Faculty Board. The two retiring members, Dr L. E. A. Howe and Dr R. A. Foley, are eligible for re-election.

Nominations and notification of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology, Downing Street, not later than Friday, 5 November 1999.

Classics

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Classics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 11 November 1999, in Room G. 19 of the Classics Faculty Building, Sidgwick Avenue. The main business will be to elect two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 2000.

Nominations for these elections and notice of any other business for the meeting should be sent in writing to the Secretary, Faculty of Classics, Sidgwick Avenue, to arrive not later than Thursday, 4 November 1999.

Economics and Politics

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Economics and Politics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 15 November 1999, in the Meade Room, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue. The Agenda for the meeting will be circulated to each member of the Faculty. One of the items of business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2000, and two members to serve for one year from 1 January 2000.

Nominations in writing, signed by the proposer, together with an indication of the nominee's willingness to serve, should reach the Secretary, Dr S. N. Solomou, Faculty of Economics and Politics, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue, by 5 p.m. on Thursday, 11 November 1999. It would be convenient if notice of any other business that members wish to be discussed were sent in writing to the Secretary by 10 a.m. on Monday, 8 November 1999.

History

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of History gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 16 November 1999, in Seminar Room 3 in the Faculty of History. The main business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), four members of the Faculty Board in class (c), three to serve for four years, and one to serve for one year from 1 January 2000.

Other business will be to consider the reports of the Tripos and Preliminary Examiners and matters arising therefrom, the Seeley Library Report 1998-99, and any other business.

Nomination forms, signed by the nominee, the proposer, and the seconder, should reach the Secretary, Faculty of History, West Road, not later than 12 noon on Tuesday, 9 November 1999.

Mathematics

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Mathematics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 3.30 p.m. on Thursday, 18 November 1999, in Room A of the Arts School, Bene't Street. (Faculty members should note that the time of the meeting is later than in previous years.) The main item of business will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of five members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve from 1 January 2000 for four years.

Nominations for these elections should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Mathematics, Faculty Office, Room F19B, Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Silver Street, not later than 12 noon on Thursday, 11 November 1999.

Nominations should be in writing, should bear the signatures of the proposer and the seconder, and should contain a signed statement by the nominee that he/she would consent to serve if elected. Any further items for the agenda should reach the Secretary by the same date.
