The following elections, appointments, and reappointments have been made:
Dr A. Blankert, Senior Lecturer in History of Art, University of Utrecht, elected Slade Professor of Fine Art from 15 January 2000 until 15 March 2000.
Professor W. Bonfield, CBE, B.Sc., Ph.D., London, ARSM, FIM, CEng, FREng, FBSE, Professor of Materials and Director of the IRC in Biomedical Materials, Queen Mary and Westfield College, London, elected Professor of Medical Materials from 1 October 1999.
Clinical Medicine. Mr D. W. Wheeler, M.A., B.M., B.Ch., Oxford, MRCP, FRCA, appointed Clinical Lecturer in Anaesthesia from 1 October 1999 for four years.
Chemistry. Mr W. T. S. Huck, CAI, Ph.D., Twente, appointed from 1 October 1999 for five years.
Physiology. Mr M. P. Mahaut-Smith, B.Sc., Sheffield, Ph.D., Bristol, appointed from 1 October 1999 for five years.
Earth Sciences. Mr C. N. Richardson, Ph.D., CAI, appointed Computer Officer, Grade II, from 1 July 1999 for five years.
Board of Continuing Education. Ms E. M. Hendry, B.A., Sussex, appointed from 1 April 1999 for three years.
Education. Dr D. C. Frost reappointed from 1 October 1999 until the retiring age.
Chemistry: Melville Laboratory. Professor A. B. Holmes, CL, reappointed Director of the Melville Laboratory for Polymer Synthesis from 1 October 1999 to the retiring age.
Architecture. Dr F. A. Penz, DAR, and Dr P. N. Richens, CHU, reappointed from 1 October 1999 until the retiring age.
Engineering. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty of Engineering, have reappointed Professor K. Glover, SID, as Deputy Head of the Department of Engineering from 1 June 1999 for three years.
