University offices: Vacancies

The University follows an equal opportunities policy and has a policy on arrangements for part-time work.

Applications are invited for the following University offices:

University Lecturer in the Department of Medicine

University Lecturer in the Department of Medicine. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for this replacement office in the Professorial Unit, to take up appointment as soon as possible after 1 September 1999. Duties include teaching, research, and clinical work. This brings the establishment of consultant staff to nine of whom four hold University appointments. Application will be made to the Addenbrooke's NHS Trust for the award of an Honorary Consultant contract. The appointment will normally be for five years, with the possibility of reappointment until the retiring age.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £20,107 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £31,010 a year (under review). The successful candidate will be eligible to receive an additional payment for clinical responsibility related to the amount of clinical work undertaken. If, as expected, the Lecturer undertakes the equivalent of six or more NHS sessions a week of clinical work the payment will be such as to bring his or her total pensionable emoluments into line with a point on the NHS salary scale for Consultants (£47,345-£61,605).

Further information may be obtained from the Secretary of the Appointments Committee for the Faculty of Clinical Medicine, Clinical School, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 2SP (tel. 01223 336726), to whom applications (fourteen copies), together with a curriculum vitae and the names of three referees, should be sent so as to reach her no later than 23 July 1999.
