University offices: Vacancy

The University follows an equal opportunities policy and has a policy on arrangements for part-time work.

Applications are invited for the following University office:

Administrative Officer in the University Offices (General Board Division)

Administrative Officer, Grade I or II, in the University Offices (General Board Division), to be seconded to the School of the Biological Sciences initially, to take up appointment from 1 June 1999 or as soon as possible thereafter. The person appointed is likely also to be appointed as the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Biology, and will also undertake other responsibilities in the Faculty of Biology, the School of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, and two research institutes: the Wellcome/CRC Institute and the MRC Cambridge Brain Repair Centre. There are also important interactions with the School of Clinical Medicine. Administrative experience is essential, and some computing experience desirable. The appointment will be made at either Administrative Officer, Grade I, or Grade II level, depending on age, qualifications, and experience, and will be for three years, unless the Council waive this requirement, in which case the appointment will be for a period not exceeding five years. Reappointments are for periods not exceeding five years at a time, provided that an Administrative Officer may be reappointed to the retiring age when he or she has reached the maximum of the scale of stipends for the grade.

The pensionable scales of stipends for Administrative Officers are:

Grade I: £21,815 a year, rising by five annual increments to £26,523.

Grade II: £18,275 a year, rising by six annual increments to £23,651.
