The following appointments and reappointments have been made:
Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. Mr D. M. A. Stuart, B.A., Oxford, M.Sc., Ph.D., Princeton, appointed from 1 January 1999 until the retiring age.
Materials Science and Metallurgy. Mr M. R. Manning, Ph.D., SE, appointed Computer Officer, Grade II, from 1 June 1998 for five years.
Chemistry. Mr D. J. Stokes appointed Computer Officer, Grade II, from 1 September 1998 for five years.
University Offices (General Board Division). Ms B. A. Howe appointed Administrative Officer, Grade II, assigned initially to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, from 14 December 1998 for three years.
Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. Ms S. M. Baines, B.A., Manchester, appointed from 18 January 1999 for three years.
Criminology (correction). Dr T. H. Bennett, whose reappointment as Acting Head of the Department was announced in Reporter, p. 261, is a member of Wolfson College, not Trinity Hall.
Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine, have reappointed Professor S. K. Smith, F, to be Head of the Department from 1 October 1998 for a period of five years.
Medicine. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine, have reappointed Professor J. G. P. Sissons, DAR, to be Head of the Department from 1 October 1998 for a period of five years.
