Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics: Notice

MILLENNIUM MATHEMATICS PROJECT

Professor J. D. Barrow, B.Sc., Durham, D.Phil., Oxford, Professor of Astronomy, Director of the Astronomy Centre, and PPARC Senior Fellow at the University of Sussex, has been appointed Research Professor of Mathematical Sciences and Director of the Millennium Mathematics Project from 1 July 1999. The Millennium Mathematics Project aims to improve the understanding and appreciation of mathematics amongst young people and the public at large by introducing mathematics in new ways that display its relevance to the commercial, scientific, and cultural worlds.
