Sims Fund and Scholarships in Mathematics and Clinical Medicine: Notice

Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 679 and 815

The Managers of the Sims Fund have previously announced (Reporter, Special No. 7, p. 44) the offer of a Sims Scholarship for outstanding merit and promise in Mathematics, tenable for up to three years from October 1998, of value comparable with that of a Research Council award, including College and University fees. Detailed regulations on eligibility and application procedure are set out in that notice, and applications are to be sent to the Registrary at the Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TN, by 30 April 1998. Applications for Scholarships of shorter duration or lesser value will also be considered.

The Managers are pleased to announce that they are now able to offer a second Sims Scholarship, for outstanding merit and promise in Clinical Medicine, also tenable for up to three years from October 1998, on the same conditions (mutatis mutandis) as the one in Mathematics, application also to be made to the Registrary by 30 April 1998.

The Managers may also be in a position to make grants to Graduate Students who are ineligible for a Scholarship by not being graduates of the University but are eligible for an award in every other respect. Applications (also to be made to the Registrary by 30 April) will be considered from students intending to study any of the subjects covered by the Faculties mentioned in the regulations for the Sims Fund, namely Physics and Chemistry, Mathematics, and Clinical Medicine.
