The Studentship consists of a maintenance grant for three years (subject to satisfactory progress), at the same rate as that paid by the Medical Research Council to its Graduate Students (currently £6,865 per year). The Studentship also covers College and University fees at the 'home' rate. The Studentship is unable to pay University fees at the higher rate applicable to some students from overseas, who should therefore apply for an ORS award to cover these additional fees. The Elmore Student will become a member of Gonville and Caius College, and accommodation will be available at collegiate rates. The Student will be eligible to apply to the College for certain research expenses, such as travel for purposes connected with research. Applicants are strongly advised to make contact with the Department in which they wish to study, since they must satisfy the College that they are acceptable to that Department.
Applications should be made to the Tutor for Graduate Studies, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, CB2 1TA. They should include a curriculum vitae, and a statement of the research project. Applicants should arrange for two referees to write directly to the Tutor for Graduate Studies on their behalf. The closing date for applications and references is 15 January 1998.
