Brasenose College, Oxford

PROGRAMME IN HELLENIC STUDIES: VISITING FELLOWSHIPS

Applications are invited from distinguished scholars wishing to participate in the Brasenose College Visiting Fellowship Programme in Hellenic Studies. The scheme is intended for scholars who normally work outside Oxford and who wish to pursue academic study and research in this University. It is expected that prospective candidates will have some financial support from other sources, but the scheme provides a grant of £12,000 a year. The College has a preference for applicants able to visit for the whole academic year 1998-99 but, in any event, no election will be made for less than one term.

The Fellowship is normally open to scholars in any area of Hellenic Studies, including Economics, History (Ancient, Byzantine or Modern), Law, Literature (Ancient, Byzantine or Modern), Sociology, Theology, Philosophy, Politics, and other aspects of art and culture. For the academical year 1998-99 priority will be given to scholars in any aspect of Byzantine Studies.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 5 January 1998. Further particulars may be obtained from the College Secretary, Brasenose College, Oxford, OX1 4AJ. Applications, with details of career and publications and a brief statement of the programme of research to be pursued, should be sent to the College Secretary, together with the names of three referees.

Brasenose College is an equal opportunities employer.
