Development Framework for the Old Press/Mill Lane Site: Notice

27 April 2009

The Council published a Notice in the Reporter of 14 January 2009 (p. 387) regarding the preparation of a development framework for the Old Press/Mill Lane Site by the City Council and the Council's planned public consultation exercise.

The Council now wishes to inform the University that the Planning and Resources Committee considered a report on the City Council's consultation document at its meeting on 18 March 2009 and agreed the line to be taken by the University when making representations on the draft document.

Details of the representations submitted by the University to the City Council can be inspected on the Estate Management and Building Service's 'Major Projects and Master Plans' website at http://www.arct.cam.ac.uk/UCPB/PlaceEx.aspx?rid=2370056&p=6&ix=862&pid=4&prcid=27&ppid=218. This page also provides a link to the City Council's draft consultation document.

The City Council hope to be in a position to adopt the development framework for the site by summer 2009. Once adopted, the development framework will provide the University with options for the development of the site and the University will then need to consider, if, when, and how development of the site should be brought forward.

In due course, the Council will submit specific proposals for the development of the site to the Regent House and these will be put up for discussion in the usual way before any recommendation is put to the Regent House for approval by Grace.
