Graces submitted to the Regent House on 11 March 2009

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 20 March 2009.

1. That a Charles H. and Anna M. Hodgkins Memorial be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulation:1

Charles H. and Anna M. Hodgkins Memorial

The sum of £147,000 received from the Board of Cambridge in America shall form a fund, to be entitled the Charles H. and Anna M. Hodgkins Memorial, the income of which shall be used to support fundamental research in the basic sciences appertaining to physiology, as shall be determined by the Head of the Department of Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience.

2. That the proposal for the introduction of the degree of Master of Mathematics in the University set out in the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the establishment of a degree of Master of Mathematics and a degree of Master of Advanced Study, dated 8 December 2008 and 12 November 2008 (Reporter, p. 338), be approved.2

3. That the proposal for the introduction of the degree of Master of Advanced Studies in the University set out in the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the establishment of a degree of Master of Mathematics and a degree of Master of Advanced Study, dated 8 December 2008 and 12 November 2008 (Reporter, p. 338), be approved.2

4. That the amendments to Statute B of the University set out in Recommendation II in paragraph 11 of the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the establishment of a degree of Master of Mathematics and a degree of Master of Advanced Study, dated 8 December 2008 and 12 November 2008 (Reporter, p. 338), be approved and that these amendments be submitted under the Common Seal of the University to Her Majesty in Council for approval.2

5. That, subject to the approval of Graces 2, 3, and 4, the amendments to the regulations contained in the Council's Notice, dated 9 March 2009 (Reporter, p. 575), be approved, with effect from 1 October following the date on which the amendments of Statute B take effect.
