University Composition Fees: Notice

21 February 2005

The Secretary of State for Education and Skills has recently announced that tuition fees for home and EU undergraduate students will rise to £1,175 for the academical year 2005-06 and has recommended an inflation increase of 2.5% for home and EU postgraduate students for that period.

In their Notice of 10 March 2003 (Reporter, 2002-03, p. 695), the Council proposed that the University Composition Fees payable by overseas students should be set for two years ahead and that for the years 2003-06 they should be increased by 2% more than the Government's inflation figure. An increase in the fees for 2004-05 and for 2005-06 of 4.4% was approved by Grace 1 of 12 March 2003 and Grace 1 of 17 March 2004, respectively. The Council have agreed to propose that fees for overseas students should be increased by 2% above inflation for a further year, giving an increase of 4.5% for the year 2006-07.

The Council are submitting a Grace to the Regent House (Grace 1, p. 483) for the approval of the changes to the Table of Fees which result from their proposals in this Notice.
