University Computing Service: Notice

PUBLIC WORKSTATION FACILITY - UPGRADE OF PC WORKSTATIONS TO WINDOWS XP PRO

This notice is addressed to all those who currently use or who are planning to use the Public Workstation Facility (PWF), including Managed Cluster stations, to support their teaching, whether for organized courses or for teaching that depends more generally on applications on the PWF.

The Computing Service intends to upgrade all the PC workstations to Windows XP Pro on 28 June 2004. While there is no expectation of any problems with applications transferred from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, those who use the PWF for teaching are advised to test the software they use as soon as possible after the rollout is complete.

Any problems or feedback should be submitted either by e-mail (pwf-manager@ucs.cam.ac.uk) or in writing to the PWF Manager, University Computing Service, New Museums Site.
