The Fulbright-AstraZeneca Research Scholarship 2002-03

AWARDS BY OUTSIDE BODIES:

The Fulbright Commission is pleased to offer a Scholarship in conjunction with AstraZeneca Plc for a postdoctoral scientist to conduct research at a top centre in the United States on any aspect of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Bio-informatics.

The candidate should be an EU citizen normally resident in the UK. Candidates should note that any academic fees will be their responsibility. Application should include a letter of invitation from the US institution acting as host. Candidates should have/expect to have a Ph.D. Degree in a relevant area before departure to the US. The candidate will normally be expected to seek a career in industry on their return.

Interviews are provisionally arranged for late April 2002.

The award is worth £15,000 plus round trip travel and is available for a minimum of ten months from September 2002. The successful candidate will receive health and accident insurance via Fulbright.

The successful applicant will be issued with a J1 visa which requires the holder to return to the UK for a minimum of two years on completion of the Fellowship before applying for work or residence visas (tourist trips are not affected). A report will be required at the end of the Fellowship.
