Oxford Institute of Ageing

DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND RESEARCH FELLOW

Deputy Director (Ref: OIA/1002/0905/1)

The University proposes to appoint a Deputy Director, for the Oxford Institute of Ageing, from 1 January 2002, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal. The salary will be on the RS2 scale, from £26,229 to £32,215, depending on qualifications and experience.

Research Fellow (Ref: OIA/1002/0905/2)

The University proposes to appoint a Research Fellow to work in the Oxford Institute of Ageing from 1 January 2002, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be for two years in the first instance with the possibility of renewal. The salary on the RS1A scale, from £17,451 to £22,299 a year.

The newly established Oxford Institute of Ageing (http://www.ageing.ox.ac.uk/) currently supports three main research areas: life-time work, pensions, and retirement; development and ageing; and inter-generational relationships, families, and households. Applicants for both posts should have research interests within the demography, economics, sociology, history, or politics of ageing, and ageing populations and societies. An interest in the economics of ageing societies, including work, retirement, and pensions provision, or in ageing and development issues in less developed countries is particularly welcomed.

Candidates for the post of Deputy Director should also have the skills needed to play a central role in this exciting phase of the development of the Institute.
