Hitachi Professorship of Electron Device Physics: Notice

The Board of Electors to the Hitachi Professorship of Electron Device Physics invite applications for this newly established Professorship from candidates whose research falls within this general field. It is hoped that the successful candidate will take up the appointment on 1 October 2002. The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University.

This Professorship is supported by Hitachi Limited, as part of the collaborative arrangement, which the Professor will continue, between the Microelectronics Research Centre, a group within the Cavendish Laboratory, and its Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory (HCL), an embedded laboratory. Opportunities exist for significant expansion into new themes in the general areas of electron device physics and nanoelectronics. The Professor will also be expected to support other initiatives in areas of nanotechnology, biological physics, medical physics, and associated theoretical work, playing a full role in all aspects of research and teaching of physics.
