Professor Robert J Sampson of Harvard University will review findings from research on human development in Chicago neighbourhoods. He will focus on the idea that a neighbourhood’s well-being depends not only on its own conditions, but also the conditions of the neighbourhoods to which its residents are connected, through networks of everyday urban mobility.
