CHINESE ORCHESTRAL MUSIC and JAVANESE GAMELAN

The concert will open with the Cambridge Gamelan Society playing music on the bronze gongs and metallophones of Indonesia, combining classic vocal and instrumental works from the traditional Central Javanese repertoire. The Gamelan Society is a student/community ensemble dedicated to the performance of traditional and contemporary gamelan compositions. They will be joined by guest musicians Cathy Eastburn and Dave McKenny to provide a programme capturing the intricacy and delicacy of this beautiful music.
The Cambridge University Chinese Orchestra Society (CUCOS) will perform:

“Ode to the Sun” – 4th movement (Wang Danhong)
“Dance of the Golden Snake” (Nie Er)
“The Impression of Chinese Music – Daqu” (Jiang Ying)
