Changing the world through public service

Wed 12 February 2020

Hughes Hall

A Bridge Pathways to Impact Event at Hughes Hall

We are pleased to invite you to join discussions with a panel of experts from the world of public service who will provide experience, expertise and specific advice on working in government, policy and the third sector.

Within academia, many of us are striving to address some of the world’s most pressing problems by influencing policy-making at various levels, in diverse subjects, and from different platforms, in the UK and internationally – this is for you.

Join us for welcome drinks at 6.00pm. The panel discussion starts at 6.30pm.

This unique event will be chaired by Jane Ramsey (Committee on Standards in Public Life, Chair of Young Epilepsy, non-executive portfolio and former barrister).

The panel includes:

Dr Mark Bale (Deputy Director of Health Science & Bioethics at the Department of Health)

Ann Cotton OBE (Founder and Trustee, CAMFED International)

Catherine Mealing-Jones (Director, Growth, UK Space Agency)

Dr Alexander Randall (Ministry of Defence)

Through the Bridge, Hughes Hall supports all its researchers in making the world a better place by achieving impact through their research. Researchers can take many paths to impact, through different careers and professions, academic or otherwise. This series of events brings together veteran and young professionals from many walks of life to share their own journeys and experiences of how to make change. The audiences will gain insights into the opportunities, challenges and realities in making a difference, and will benefit from valuable advice.

This event is part of the Bridge Pathways to Impact Series at Hughes Hall.
