Mon 7 February 2011

Emmanuel College

'Humanitarian-Military interaction in complex emergencies: the experience of Pakistan.'
Talk by Masood ul-Mulk, CEO, Sarhad Rural Support Programme.

Masood ul-Mulk is CEO of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), the largest NGO working to alleviate poverty in north-west Pakistan. SRSP was active in relief and reconstruction activities following the 2005 earthquake, the 2008/09 terrorist insurgency in the Swat Valley and the 2010 floods, and worked closely with civil and military authorities.

Masood ul-Mulk will draw on his experience to discuss the challenges faced by NGOs when interacting with the military to provide humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
