The Royal House of Atreus in Mycenae: Illuminating an Accursed Prehistoric Genealogy
Sun 23 March
Hawks' Club
Demetrius Floudas will take us on a fascinating journey through the story of the Royal House of Atreus - one of the most famous and troubled noble families from ancient Greek mythology.
The Atreides dynasty from Mycenae isn't just a myth - their influence is everywhere in our modern world. Its members have inspired the naming of two chemical elements, a dozen moons & solar system objects, a psychiatric syndrome, a psychological complex, vocabulary words we still use today, and much more!
And of course, the most beautiful woman in history is connected to this family...
Throughout the ages, this accursed House has also inspired countless works of art, plays, poems, novels & other creative works, leaving a lasting impact on the world's culture and imagination.
This compelling talk will explore the lineage and the heraldry of the House of Atreus, its outrageous trials & tribulations and its legendary curse. It shall consider why and how their story has remained so powerful for thousands of years.
Do not miss this chance to explore in detail one of the most influential royal geneaologies ever!
