Music Vs Power
Sat 2 November 2024 - Sun 3 November 2024
Homerton College
After Auschwitz and under the weight of imperialism, capitalism and mass culture, composers tried to wrestle classical music from its pedestal and invent radically new, subversive forms. Klaus Huber was one of them. A rebel and a mystic, he taught many of today's leading composers, such as Ferneyhough and Hosokawa.
Two concerts dedicated to Huber, his friends and pupils, will present some of the most radical and ambitious music ever composed. On 2 November, flutist Jean-Luc Menet, a close friend of Huber, will give a solo recital of works by Huber, Ferneyhough, Holliger and Hosokawa. On 3 November, he will be joined by his Ensemble Alternance for premiere performances of pieces by Huber, Brice Pauset and Aurélien Dumont.
Cost: £20.00 per concert or £30.00 for both. £5/10 for HCMS Members. Students with Student ID Free
