ONLINE COURSE Hand sewing techniques: embroidering an allotment
Sat 25 September 2021
online
Try something new with this perfect sized project, or make a lovely Christmas gift for someone. During this three hour class Jemma will guide you through getting started on the embroidery, by first tracing the pattern and securing the hoop. She will then take you through threading a needle, securing your thread and show you how to create the embroidery stitches. Depending on your experience and speed of stitching, you will be able to complete one or two of the allotment blocks. You will then have the knowledge to continue to follow the instructions and finish the embroidery project in your own time.
The price includes a kit containing everything you need to complete the allotment design, and will be posted to you in advance of the course:
4 inch embroidery hoop
28 different colours DMC embroidery threads
2 embroidery needles
fabric for embroidery and hoop back
tracing paper for transferring the pattern
cotton thread for transferring the pattern
illustrated pattern and stitch guide booklet with full step by step instructions
Jemma has been sewing since she was taught by her mother as a child, coming to the fibre arts in more recent years after keeping sheep on her smallholding in rural Cambridgeshire. After 25 years as a primary school teacher she loves to pass these skills on to others and teaches a wide range of classes and courses, and works with numerous textile techniques covering sewing, spinning and weaving.
