Jonathan Shanklin

Cambridge Natural History Society talk: An astronomer in Antarctica

Thu 7 November 2019

David Attenborough Building

Jonathan Shanklin will describe some of the atmospheric phenomena and natural history seen during his visits to Antarctica with the British Antarctic Survey. The visits were made during his work on meteorological and ozone monitoring and he will provide an update on the ozone hole and climate change.

Cambridge Natural History Society was founded in 1857 and is open to everyone
interested in any aspect of natural history. As well as talks we do field studies - an opportunity to hone your ID skills - and have social events and an annual exhibition, our Conversazione or NatHistFest. Our patron is Dafila Scott and we are also proud to have numbered Sir David Attenborough among our members.

Join us to meet local experts and others who share your passion for the natural world. Membership is just £6 a year (£5 by standing order), £14 for three years, £100 for life membership. Join at any meeting or see www.cnhs.org.uk for more information.

Cost: £3; CNHS members £1.50; students with ID 50p; ARUWS and CUNS members free.
