Botanic Garden
This course is for anyone with an interest in botany who would enjoy using a microscope.
The session includes the opportunity to have a go at using a low-magnification dissecting microscope and a higher-magnification compound light microscope
It starts with an introduction which covers how these two types of microscope differ, and what their applications are. A range of hands-on activities follows, allowing participants to familiarise themselves with the microscopes and practice using them.
The rest of the course is dedicated to helping participants observe in detail a range of leaves, stems, flowers and their component parts. Enjoy looking at features that it is not possible to see clearly with the naked eye, and learn to observe how flowers from different plant families vary.
No previous knowledge or experience is required.
Cost: £65
